WESTPORT, Conn. -- A Norwalk man was found with more than a pound of marijuana in his car following a traffic stop in Westport this weekend, according to police.

At around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, police spotted an Acura with dark tinted windows and a license plate light that was not functioning, and stopped it in the area of Saugatuck Avenue and Ferry Lane, police said. While speaking to the driver, 29-year-old Marque Taylor of Norwalk, the officer could detect a strong, distinct odor of marijuana coming from the car, according to police.

K-9 Officer Scinto was brought to the scene, and K-9 Atlas indicated that there were drugs in the back seat, according to police. Officers searched the car and found a black plastic garbage bag with a large brown leather bag inside of it. Inside the leather bag, police found two large vacuum-sealed bags containing a large quantity of marijuana, as well as four smaller plastic bags containing marijuana, according to police. They also found numerous sandwich bags, which are commonly used for packaging drugs, police said.

The total weight of the marijuana was 18.9 ounces, according to police.

Taylor was arrested and charged with sale of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. He was held on a $25,000 bond and will appear in court on Sept. 18.
