Brianna Pennell, 34, of George Street, was charged with sixth-degree larceny and first-degree criminal trespass on Saturday.

On Sept. 9, officers were called to the Post Road supermarket after store security reported a woman hid several items in her purse and only paid for one item at checkout before leaving the store, police said.

When confronted she fled, but store security gave her license plate number to police.

Store security recognized the woman as Pennell and said she had previously been banned from all Whole Foods, police said.

She was arrested Saturday on an outstanding warrant after she was detained at Norwalk Police Department, police said.

Pennell was transported to Westport headquarters and was held on $20,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 23.
