STRATFORD, Conn. — A Stratford mom, who carried an unloaded gun in her waistband when she picked up her daughter at school, is seeking probation, the Connecticut Post reported.
Elizabeth Vargas, 37, filed an application for accelerated rehabilitation Tuesday in Superior Court in Bridgeport, the Post said. She was arrested on a charge of possession of a weapon on school grounds on Jan. 20 at Wooster Middle School.
Vargas said she was on her way to the shooting range when she was called to pick up her daughter, who had been involved in a fight, the Post said.
Under accelerated rehabilitation, a defendant does not plead guilty but can be placed on up to two years of probation. If the defendant commits no other crimes, the charge is dismissed.
