At about 3:45 p.m. Saturday, Stratford Police assisted Connecticut State Police in searching for the suspects, who had fled the scene of a two-car accident on I-95 northbound near Exit 33, police said.

The stolen car was then involved in a second crash — this time on the southbound side of the Merritt near Exit 52, police said. After the car hit three others, the suspects hopped out and fled on foot, police said.

A Bridgeport woman suffered minor injuries in the second crash, state police said.

Police unsuccessfully searched the James Farm Road area near the parkway for the suspects after the second crash.

"Stratford police and K-9 units along with other agencies' assisted State Troopers in trying to apprehend suspects who were operating a stolen vehicle and fled the scene of a crash," Stratford police said in a statement. "A search of the area was negative for the suspects. The Stratford Police are currently investigating and following all leads."
