Troy Stevenson, 56, and Betty Chappell, 56, were both arrested on warrants for applying for absentee ballots during the November election, police said.

The investigation began when the Town Clerk’s Office noticed some discrepancies in absentee ballots signed out by the pair, police said.

At least two absentee ballots were determined to be forged and submitted by Stevenson and Chappell.

Each was charged with second-degree forgery and false statement in absentee balloting, police said.

Each was released on a written promise to appear in court on Feb. 1.
