Mosquito Prevention: Officials Handing Out Free Dunks To Kill Larvae In Westchester To help combat the spread of mosquitos in Westchester, officials will give out free dunks to residents meant to kill off larvae. On Friday, May 17 between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the Westchester County Health Department will hand out free mosquito dunks for placing in bird baths, rain barrels, unused pools, lined ornamental ponds, and other areas with standing water. Car Goes Up In Flames On Busy Northern Westchester Roadway Smoke was seen on a busy main route in Northern Westchester when a vehicle went up in flames.  The incident happened on Saturday, May 11 around 1:40 p.m., when a car caught on fire on Route 9 southbound in Croton-on-Hudson just south of the pedestrian bridge.  According to the village's fire department, the blaze began in the vehicle's engine compartment and was quickly put out. The car was removed from the road after around an hour. No injuries were reported.
